About the Center swimming pool in Brussels
Located in the heart of the historic Marolles district, the Centre swimming pool is an iconic venue that combines architectural elegance with practical functionality. Since its inauguration in 1953, the Centre swimming pool has also been known for providing public bath and shower facilities, an essential service for the community. Public showers are open Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with the last ticket sold at 2:00 PM. A 210 m² gymnastics hall is also available by reservation.
In the territory of the City of Brussels, three public swimming pools offer opportunities for swimming and aquatic activities: the Centre swimming pool, the Laeken swimming pool, and the Neder-Over-Heembeek swimming pool. Management is overseen by the non-profit organisation Bains de Bruxelles.

Last ticket sale and water exit
The Centre swimming pool requires swimmers to purchase their tickets no later than 1 hour and 15 minutes before closing and to leave the water 45 minutes before closing.
For example, when the pool closes at 8:30 PM, the last ticket must be purchased by 7:15 PM, and swimmers must leave the water by 7:45 PM.
At certain times during the school year, all swimming lanes may be reserved for schools.

Entry cards, subscriptions and payment
- 10- and 50-entry cards are valid for one year.
- The individual three-month subscription includes unlimited swimming. A photo is required.
- Cards and subscriptions are personal and non-transferable. They cannot be refunded or replaced. Extensions are only granted when the facilities close due to technical problems, building work or a pandemic, and cover the closure days falling within the card or subscription’s validity period.
- Accepted payment methods: cash, bank card, Visa, Mastercard and Zinne (Brussels’ local currency).
- Public showers only: €2.00, for both residents and non-residents.

Aquatic activities at the Center pool include aquagym classes, prenatal aquagym classes, private swimming lessons, children’s swimming school, swimming camps, swimming club, artistic swimming club, etc.
Outside the pool’s opening hours, a number of ASBLs offer aquagym classes, swimming lessons or free swim periods during which the pool is reserved for women. This service is not organised directly by the pool, but by three ASBLs.

Diving wetsuits: only for diving clubs.
Shorty wetsuits: only for swimming school instructors, during the hours given to those schools.
- Required: footbath, identity card to show when staff ask and swim cap.
- Child supervision: required; children under 10, accompanied by an adult, who must be in the water with the child.
- Pre-swim shower: required. 5 minutes maximum.
- Scuba diving and breath-hold diving (weight belts, air tanks): forbidden. Fins, masks and snorkels may also be banned in some circumstances; management may make exceptions.
- Swim time when the pool is busy: conditional. Management may limit swims to 60 minutes; beyond that, a second swim may be charged at the standard rate, even to subscribers.
- Swimming for people who cannot swim: conditional. Only in the area expressly reserved for them.
- Time allowed in the public showers: conditional. 20 minutes maximum.
- Not allowed: animals on the premises, drinks, food, products on the body (oil, cream or other) when entering the water, razors, soap in the pool and taking photos.

Accessibility – Centre swimming pool
Wheelchair access: the learning pool can be reached via a street-level entrance at the rear of the building, on Rue des Capucins, and a lift. The main entrance is not wheelchair accessible. Improvements are planned as part of future renovations, with no date specified.

Entering the water in the learning pool: no pool hoist or other assisted water-entry device is currently available. Steps lead gradually down into the water. People with reduced mobility are generally accompanied by someone who can help them; the lifeguards on duty can also provide assistance.
