Annual closure of L’Espadon swimming pool
As every year at the end of the summer, L’Espadon municipal swimming pool in Etterbeek will temporarily close its doors for its annual maintenance. In 2026, the swimming pool will be closed from Monday 24 August to Sunday 6 September inclusive. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it is scheduled to reopen on Monday 7 September 2026.
Two weeks dedicated to maintenance work
This annual closure allows several operations to be carried out that would be difficult to perform while the swimming pool is open to the public. Work on the technical installations is planned, along with the draining of the small pools and thorough maintenance of the building and its facilities.
The aim of this work is to keep the facilities in good condition and ensure optimal swimming and visitor conditions when the pool reopens.
Training for staff
The closure period will also be used to provide additional training for L’Espadon staff. Several training sessions are planned, particularly in first aid and fire safety and prevention.

Reopening scheduled for 7 September
Following these two weeks of maintenance, the swimming pool is expected to resume its normal operations on Monday 7 September 2026.
Swimmers will once again be able to enjoy the pools and the various activities offered at L’Espadon, including swimming lessons, aqua gym, aqua bike, aqua jump and synchronised swimming. Facilities for families and younger children are also available, including a paddling pool and a slide.
This temporary closure takes place every year at the end of the summer and allows the facilities to be prepared for the start of the new season.
