Introduction to the Spray Park
The former outdoor pool at Bois des Rêves, located in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, has been replaced by a modern and cost-effective aquatic play area, the Spray Park du Bois des Rêves. Since its closure in August 2019, the pool has not been replaced by a new basin but rather by a new water play area inaugurated on June 29, 2024. This change reflects a more ecological approach tailored to public needs while staying true to the recreational spirit of the area.
The new Spray Park spans 1,000 square meters and offers 76 interactive water games divided into two distinct zones. The first zone is designed for toddlers with gentle water jets, while the second zone caters to older children with dynamic elements like large tipping buckets, water cannons, and fountains. Children can play among fun structures shaped like snails, palm trees, and flowers. The space has been designed to be inclusive, with facilities accessible to people with disabilities.
In addition to the water games, the site also provides sun loungers and parasols, allowing adults to relax while children play under supervision. Children under 12 must be accompanied. This Spray Park stands apart from the old pool for its economic and ecological efficiency. Tanguy Stuckens, President of the Provincial College, explains that this new installation consumes four times less water than a traditional pool and requires fewer cleaning products. Moreover, it can be open more frequently, from April to October, compared to the old pool, which was only accessible for two months a year. Thanks to these advantages, decisions to open can be made more easily based on weather conditions.
Entry fee is set at €6, with subscription packages available. To prevent overcrowding, capacity is limited to 1,000 people per day, and advance online reservations are recommended. With this new installation, Bois des Rêves becomes a must-visit destination for family relaxation, located just a few kilometers from Brussels.
Spray Park du Bois des Rêves marks a turning point in the history of the domain, merging aquatic recreation with environmental respect while meeting the needs of families seeking engaging and refreshing activities.
