A New Phase of Modernisation for the Pool
For several years, the Poseidon sports complex has been undergoing an extensive renovation programme aimed at improving energy performance and user experience. The newly announced phase from the municipality focuses specifically on the swimming pool.
Main updates included in the works:
- Modernisation of technical installations (heating, ventilation, water treatment, lighting)
- Improved energy efficiency across the aquatic area
- Enhanced safety with the installation of a next-generation anti-drowning system
- Improved comfort for swimmers and families
- Renovation of changing rooms, showers, pool tiles and joints
- Complete redesign of the entrance hall
These interventions require closing the aquatic area for an estimated six-month period, starting January 2026.

The Rest of the Sports Complex Remains Open
Good news for regular visitors: only the pool area will be closed during the renovation. The rest of the Poseidon sports complex will remain fully accessible to the public.
Activities that remain available during the works:
- Fitness and sport classes
- Dance classes
- Training sessions for resident clubs
- Activities and workshops held in the indoor rooms
The municipality notes that occasional minor inconveniences (construction noise, temporary access changes) may occur, although every effort will be made to keep activities running smoothly.
Objectives: Safety, Comfort and Energy Performance
Given its high usage by schools, swimming clubs, families and sport swimmers, the Poseidon pool requires modern, reliable technical equipment. Some installations had reached the end of their lifespan, prompting the municipality to launch a large-scale renovation to meet today’s standards.
- Enhanced safety thanks to a next-generation anti-drowning system
- Greater comfort through renewed changing rooms and reception areas
- Reduced energy consumption thanks to improved insulation and modern equipment
The goal is to offer, upon reopening, a safer, more comfortable and more sustainable swimming pool for all users.
Reopening and Practical Information
The Poseidon swimming pool will close in January 2026 for an expected period of six months. Reopening is therefore planned for summer 2026, depending on construction progress.
Swim.brussels will update this page as soon as the municipality provides more precise dates or additional information.
Where to Swim During Poseidon’s Closure?
During the pool’s closure, residents of Woluwe-Saint-Lambert and nearby areas will be able to visit other swimming pools in Brussels.
For example:
- Espadon Swimming Pool (Etterbeek)
- Sportcity Swimming Pool (Woluwe-Saint-Pierre)
