About the Laeken swimming pool
Located in Laeken, just a stone’s throw from the Bockstael neighborhood, the Laeken swimming pool offers a 25-meter pool, a learning pool, a paddling pool (temporarily out of service), a slide, a cafeteria, and more.
Built in 1972, the Laeken swimming pool is a municipal pool managed by the non-profit organisation Bains de Bruxelles. It does not have a sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, or solarium.
On the territory of the City of Brussels, three public pools offer swimming and aquatic games: the Laeken swimming pool, the Central swimming pool, and the Neder-Over-Heembeek swimming pool.

- Public access: Last ticket 60 min before the end of each session; out of the water 30 min before the end.
- Lift for wheelchairs and an electric chair to help people into the water; no booking needed, staff on hand.
- Clubs only: Tuesday to Friday 20:30 to 21:30, Saturday 17:00 to 19:00.
- During school holidays, opening hours may change: check the pool’s website.
- The paddling pool is closed for now; no reopening date has been announced.

Last ticket sale and water exit
The Laeken swimming pool requires swimmers to purchase their tickets no later than 1 hour before closing and to leave the water 30 minutes before closing.
For example, when the pool closes at 8:30 PM, the last ticket must be purchased by 7:30 PM, and swimmers must leave the water by 8:00PM.
At certain times during the school year, all swimming lanes may be reserved for schools.
Wheelchair accessibility
Laeken swimming pool has a lift for wheelchair users and a powered pool hoist to assist with entry into the water. No advance booking is required, and staff are available to help.

Entry cards, subscriptions and payment
- 10- and 50-entry cards are valid for one year.
- The individual three-month subscription includes unlimited swimming. A photo is required.
- Cards and subscriptions are personal and non-transferable. They cannot be refunded or replaced. Extensions are only granted when the facilities close due to technical problems, building work or a pandemic, and cover the closure days falling within the card or subscription’s validity period.
- Accepted payment methods: cash, bank card, Visa, Mastercard and Zinne (Brussels’ local currency).

Aquatic activities at the Laeken swimming pool include aquagym classes, private swimming lessons, a children’s swimming school, swimming camps, a swimming club, a diving club, etc.
At the Laeken swimming pool, several time slots per week are rented by various non-profit organisations to organise women-only pool activities.

Water quality
The Laeken swimming pool is equipped with an ultraviolet radiation water treatment and disinfection system. This innovative technology significantly reduces the level of chloramine in the water, thus enhancing bathing quality for users.
The Neder-Over-Heembeek swimming pool also benefits from this system, guaranteeing cleaner, healthier water for all.

Diving wetsuits: only for diving clubs.
Shorty wetsuits: only for swimming school instructors, during the hours given to those schools.
- Required: footbath, identity card to show when staff ask and swim cap.
- Child supervision: required; children under 10, accompanied by an adult, who must be in the water with the child.
- Pre-swim shower: required. 5 minutes maximum.
- Scuba diving and breath-hold diving (weight belts, air tanks): forbidden. Fins, masks and snorkels may also be banned in some circumstances; management may make exceptions.
- Swim time when the pool is busy: conditional. Management may limit swims to 60 minutes; beyond that, a second swim may be charged at the standard rate, even to subscribers.
- Swimming for people who cannot swim: conditional. Only in the area expressly reserved for them.
- Not allowed: animals on the premises, drinks, food, products on the body (oil, cream or other) when entering the water, razors, soap in the pool and taking photos.
