Sportcity Swimming Pool in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre to Close from 3 May to 29 August 2027
Sportcity swimming pool in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre will be closed from Monday 3 May to Sunday 29 August 2027 inclusive for renovation works. The closure dates were confirmed to Swim.brussels by the pool manager. Swimmers can continue using the facility until Sunday 2 May 2027, during its usual opening hours. Reopening is scheduled for Monday 30 August 2027, subject to the renovation work progressing as planned.
When will Sportcity swimming pool be closed?
- Last day open: Sunday 2 May 2027, during normal opening hours.
- Closure for renovation: Monday 3 May to Sunday 29 August 2027 inclusive.
- Planned reopening: Monday 30 August 2027, provided the work proceeds as planned.
Why can’t the closure be postponed?
Sportcity’s management explains that firm commitments have already been made to the contractors involved in the renovation. The schedule can therefore no longer be postponed, even though overlapping closures at other Brussels swimming pools could cause difficulties for swimmers.
Sportcity and Poseidon: could both swimming pools be closed at the same time?
The Poseidon swimming pool in nearby Woluwe-Saint-Lambert closed on 1 January 2026 for renovation works initially expected to last six months. However, its closure has lasted longer than originally announced.
Sportcity had taken Poseidon’s renovation into account when planning its own works, but did not anticipate such a lengthy extension. If Poseidon has not reopened by 3 May 2027, both pools could be closed simultaneously. This remains a possibility rather than a confirmed outcome: the information provided does not establish a confirmed reopening date for Poseidon.
Memberships and 10-swim passes: automatic extensions
Sportcity users will not lose the validity period corresponding to the closure. Management has confirmed that all eligible memberships and passes will be automatically extended by a period equal to the closure, with no action required from users. This applies to:
- standard annual memberships;
- Morning Star memberships;
- 10-swim passes.
